Roundup
#2—
Is it just me, or are the weeks flying by?
As February and the end of summer looms, I’m really starting to get into gear and organize myself for the year ahead. C and I are looking at making the move to Europe in May (Berlin? Paris? London?) so there’s a lot to do and organize before then. I’ll be looking for full or part-time work while we’re there, so if there are any studios or agencies in any of those cities reading this, please get in touch!
The weather has been absolutely insane, ranging from blistering heat to midwinter freeze, sometimes over the course of the same day. Australia really is a land of extremes.
Over the past week I’ve been listening to some of the latest Fabric DJ mixes, LCD Soundsystem remixes, the new Jaga Jazzist, Robin Guthrie‘s solo albums, 70′s era Miles Davis and the Basement Jaxx mini-album Zephyr – which features some beautiful, psychedelic artwork by Mat Maitland.

In addition to a couple of Australian romantic comedies, I finally got around to watching Judd Apatow’s Funny People. I enjoyed the first hour or so, but felt the film really dropped off after George & Ira came to stay with Laura and I was left wondering what the point of it all was. Still, some funny scenes and great performances.
Otherwise it’s been a fairly uneventful week. This week I’ll finally be finally finishing up my Powerhouse articles and putting together some concept art for a new project with Alphabetica. Still waiting for some more detailed information on this one, but it appears to be a viral marketing project for a software company. Should be interesting.
On Friday C & I will be heading down to Sydney for a screen-printing masterclass with the very talented Kate Banazi. We’ll be doing a run of prints from my Dreamtime 79 collection, and if all goes well you’ll be able to purchase a limited edition Black Swan Ceremony print. More details next week.

Speaking of Dreamtime 79— I’d like to extend a big thank you to Marcus Westbury for his feature on the ABC Arts blog. There’s a great article on Marcus’s blog about cultural and artistic risk taking that’s definitely worth checking out too.
Apart from that I’m going to keep pushing ahead with my 3D training, blogging (particularly excited about this weeks Massive Attack entry) and generally staying positive, focused and productive. As always, I’m available for new projects, so don’t hesitate to get in touch to discuss your design needs.
Wherever you are, have a fantastic week.
