Inspiration
McQueen—
I must admit to not being an avid follower or consumer of high fashion, but I’ve always admired Alexander McQueen‘s boundary pushing aesthetic and his presence in the world of design.
He was truly one of the most influential fashion designers of the 20th century, with a profile and personality that set him apart from so many of his contemporaries.
I’m sure there are a million and one tributes to his incredible work that have burst online, so I just wanted to take a brief look at some of the pieces of graphic design produced for and in-conjunction with McQueen, including the Richard Smith designed Target campaign, his wonderfully enigmatic styling of Bjork for the Homogenic cover and the recent, brilliantly lo-fi collaboration with UNKLE and designers Kai & Sunny. McQueen has one of the strongest logos in the world of fashion, and you can see in just these few pieces just how adaptable and iconic it is.
It’s always tragic to see someone so young and full of life pass before their time, and my condolences go out to McQueen’s friends and family.
